HELP! I Came to Vanuatu and Now I Never Want to Leave

You know that feeling when you land in a new place, take a deep breath, and instantly think, Oh no… I’m in trouble. Not because it’s bad—quite the opposite. It’s too good. Like, “I might have to quit my job and move here” levels of good. Welcome to Vanuatu.

I came for a short trip. A little island escape. Some palm trees, a couple of beach naps, and maybe a volcano selfie for the ‘Gram. Simple. Harmless. But Vanuatu had other plans.

Stage 1: The “Wow, This Place is Stupidly Beautiful” Moment

It starts the second you see the ocean. It’s not just blue—it’s that insane, high-definition, did-someone-Photoshop-thiskind of blue. The kind that makes you reconsider every life choice that led you to NOT live on an island.

Then you hit the beaches, the waterfalls, and those insane blue holes (imagine swimming in a giant sapphire—yes, that’s real). And suddenly, your brain starts whispering: Why do I even have a return ticket?

Stage 2: Accidentally Becoming One With Island Life

At first, you think you’re just “trying it out.” Walking barefoot? Okay, fine. Drinking fresh coconut water straight from the shell? Sure, why not. Kava sessions under the stars? Let’s see what happens.

Next thing you know, you haven’t checked your emails in days, you have a new bestie named Willie who took you fishing, and you’re giving directions to actual tourists like you own the place. Oops.

Stage 3: Considering Major Life Changes (Like Buying a Bungalow and Learning to Spear Fish)

It always ends the same way. One day, you catch yourself casually thinking:

  • Do I really need a career?

  • How hard can it be to open a beach bar?

  • I wonder if I could live off coconuts and good vibes alone…

And just like that, Vanuatu wins.

Final Stage: The Sad, Sad Return to “Reality” (Or Maybe Not?)

Eventually, the return ticket calls. You pack your bags, but Vanuatu isn’t done with you yet. You’ll hear the waves in your dreams. You’ll smell the ocean when you open your suitcase. And you’ll spend way too much time Googling “jobs in Vanuatu” at your office desk.

So, if you’re planning a trip here… consider yourself warned. Vanuatu isn’t just a destination—it’s a trap. And you will fall for it.

Final Warning: Book at Your Own Risk!

If you visit Vanuatu, be prepared for one of two things to happen:

  1. You’ll leave, but you’ll spend your days daydreaming about coming back.

  2. You’ll “accidentally” miss your flight home.

Either way, Vanuatu wins.
